Properties:
Glycine is the organic compound with the formula NH2CH2COOH. Glycine is the smallest of the 20 amino acids commonly found in proteins, coded by codons GGU, GGC, GGA and GGG. Glycine is unique among the proteinogenic amino acids in that it is not chiral. Most proteins contain only small quantities of Glycine. A notable exception is collagen, which contains about 35% Glycine. In its solid, i. e., crystallized form, Glycine is a free-flowing and sweet-tasting crystalline material.
Applications:
Food grade: As a flavouring agent, sweetener, stabilizing agent, bitter agent, preservatives, glycine is used in alcoholic drink, salted pickle, maple syrup, soy sauce, vinegar and juice, food brewing, meat processing, butter, cheese, margarine, instant noodles, wheat flour and lard.
Medicine grade: Glycine are raw materials for the synthesis of aureomycin buffer, resistance to Parkinson's disease drug L-dopa, vitamin B6, cephalosporin, imidazole acetic acid and threonine, as well as amino acids nutrition infusion
